Hospitality Insurance for Operators Who Can't Afford an Off Night

A busy service, a full house, and constant guest turnover create risk most standard business policies weren’t built for. We build insurance programs for restaurants, hotels, and hospitality operators around how the business actually runs, service by service.

Where Hospitality Risk Actually Lives

Liquor liability

Serving alcohol creates liability exposure that standard general liability policies typically exclude.

Guest injury and premises liability

High foot traffic and guest-facing spaces create constant exposure to slip-and-fall and other injury claims.

Property exposure

Commercial kitchens, in particular, carry real fire risk, alongside standard exposure to storm and other property damage.

Employment practices

High turnover and a largely hourly workforce create real exposure to wrongful termination and discrimination claims.

Cyber and payment data exposure

Point-of-sale systems processing constant guest payment data make hospitality businesses a consistent target for breaches.

Workers' compensation exposure

Kitchens, housekeeping, and other physically demanding roles carry injury risk above many other industries.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hospitality Insurance

Most hospitality businesses need general liability, property, workers’ compensation, and liquor liability (if alcohol is served) at minimum. What else you need depends on your operation — a hotel needs different property and liability considerations than a quick-service restaurant.

Liquor liability covers claims arising from serving alcohol, and it applies regardless of whether you serve a full bar or just beer and wine — the exposure comes from serving alcohol at all, not from what specifically is on the menu. It’s typically excluded from standard general liability, so it needs to be added separately.

Standard commercial property coverage generally responds to fire, but equipment breakdown — the mechanical or electrical failure of kitchen equipment or HVAC systems — is often a separate coverage that needs to be added specifically. Given how central kitchen equipment is to a hospitality business staying open, this is worth confirming rather than assuming.

Workers’ compensation and employment practices exposure both apply regardless of how long a staff member has been with you, so high turnover doesn’t reduce your exposure — if anything, it increases the volume of hiring and termination events that carry risk. We help structure coverage that reflects your actual staffing patterns.

Cyber liability coverage responds to the notification costs, investigation, and liability that follow a breach involving guest payment data processed through your point-of-sale systems. Given how central digital payment is to hospitality operations today, this has become a standard coverage consideration, not a specialty add-on.

You contact us first — we help you document the incident correctly, get the claim filed with the right carrier, and stay involved as your advocate through investigation and resolution, not just at the point of filing.
